Using the framework of the road trip, the project Vacant Lands to the West/On The Geographic Ambivalence of Dividing Lines, documents the Mexico/US border from Matamoros to Tijuana focusing on the lesser details of this territory. By methodically driving as close to the border as possible, zig-zagging my way back and forward across the ports of entry all while photographing everything from the landscape, the people to the small forgotten detritus along the road.
